serial com port monitor, good component for Delphi 2009? [Edit]
I have been looking for a good component that compiles with Delphi 2009 and supports serial com port analyzing ('sniffing'). To give an example, the hhd Serial Port Monitor Control is the functionality we are looking for, but it doesn't work well with Delphi (many errors). It should not interfere or lock the COM port and should work even if the COM port is already in use. (Lot of components we tried needed a lock on the COM port). Wasp (software) is reading barcodes over the COM port and we need to capture the COM data and then display a dialogbox to give the end-user a choic...
DesignIDE package and porting Delphi 7 components to Delphi XE2
HI I am porting components from Delphi7 to Delphi XE2, and started run in problems regarding MaskProp.dcu, some of the components uses this, and is looking for TMaskProperty class. After a lot of browsing on the net i figured out that all these units is packaged in the designide.dcp. So i have the design time component in a package that requires the designide.dcp and then the runtime component package that reguires the designtime package for the component. In the runtime component package i get errors regarding the MaskProp.dcu and the TMaskProperty class. I dont know what to do from ...
Serial Port Component?
Hi All, I have been using BCB6 and TurboPower Async Pro for almost ten years now. The majority of my programs require support for serial ports. Recently, I decided to upgrade to C++ Builder 2010. Much to my dismay, I then discovered that Async Pro does not work with CB 2010. My CB 2010 now sits collecting dust. There seem to be several issues at play here. One is Unicode. Another is the that all the current supporters of Async Pro are Delphi guys. Another problem is that CB 2010, unlike BCB 6, does not compile Delphi packages. I don't understand all the details but it seems c...

Serial Port component for communication with external devices.
Serial Port ActiveX Control is a powerful component that lets developers quickly and effectively work with serial port. Use Serial Port component to easily communicate with external devices on RS232 connection, such as modems, bar code readers, PBX and so on. Serial Port introduces several extremely useful properties for detailed setting of serial port, numerous methods to write and read from port and events to control serial port state changes. Converting Delphi 2007 Indy 10.2.3 to Delphi 2009 Indy 10.5.5 [Edit]
Hello, I am currently attempting to port over a Delphi 2007 project that uses Indy 10.2.3 (very successfully) to Delphi 2009 and Indy 10.5.5 (I just got the latest development build this morning). I think I am running into an encoding issue, but am not sure. Specifically, IDHTTP with SSL calls an old CGI and the CGI returns a .zip file and I then save it to the disk. In 2007 and before this worked perfectly. In 2009, it is not. Here is the examples of the 2 different results (though cut way short in the post) I am getting back: 2007: 'PK'#3#4#$14#0#0#0#8#0'rLQ9žrPb€'#0...

ActiveXperts » Serial Port Component » How to Use Serial Port Component » Delphi
ActiveXperts Serial Port Component is a software development kit (SDK) that enables the user to communicate to a device over a serial interface.
Such a device can be: a weight indicator, a modem, a scanner, or any other device that is equiped with a serial port. It can even be another PC, connected via a NULL modem cable.
ActiveXperts Serial Port Component features the following:
- Direct COM port support (like 'COM1')
- TAPI (Windows Telephony Device) support (like 'Standard 56000 bps Modem');
- Support for RS-232/RS422/RS485, up to 256 simultaneous ports;
- Support for all types of Hayes compatible modems;
- Support for serial cable as well as USB cable or Bluetooth connections;
- Support for Virtual COM ports (i.e. COM ports redirected through the network);
- Hardware flow control (RTS/CTS, DTR/DSR) and software flowcontrol (XON/XOFF) support;
- Configurable baudrate/parity/stopbits, full buffered data transfer, text/binary data transfer.
Step 1: Download and install the ActiveXperts Serial Port Component
Download the ActiveXperts Serial Port Component from the ActiveXperts Download Site and start the installation. The installation guides you through the installation process.
Step 2: Create a new Delphi Project
Launch Delphi from the Start menu. Choose 'New' from the 'File' menu and select your preferred kind of application, for instance: 'VCL Forms Application - Delphi for Win32'. A new Form is displayed in the workspace.
(Click on the picture to enlarge)
Step 3: Refer to the ActiveXperts Serial Port Component Library and create the objects
Now that a new project has been created, you must add a reference to Serial Port Component in the project to be able to use the ActiveXperts Serial Port Component object. To do so, choose 'Import Component...' from the 'Component' menu. The Import Components' dialog appears. Select 'Import a Type Library':
(Click on the picture to enlarge)
In the 'Registered Type Libraries' page, select 'Serial Port Component 2.2 Type Library' and click 'Next':
(Click on the picture to enlarge)
In the 'Components' page, leave all fields default and click 'Next':
(Click on the picture to enlarge)
In the 'Install' page, select 'Create Unit' and click 'Next':
(Click on the picture to enlarge)
The interface code is generated now and is shown in the AXSERIAL_TLB tab of the project.
Step 4: Declare and create the object
From the Project Manager, open Unit1.bas and add the AXSERIAL_TLB to the 'Uses' statement to refer to the ActiveXperts Serial Port Component library:
(Click on the picture to enlarge)
In the 'private' or 'public' section, declare the following objects:
You can now create the objects, for instance in the 'FormCreate' function:
Step 5: Send an AT command to a connected Hayes compatible modem
You can now send and/or receive data to and/or from a serial port.
The following code shows how to query a modem:
There are many working samples included with the product. You can also find them on the ActiveXperts FTP site: ftp.activexperts-labs.com/samples/serial-port-component.
